SSAT & COOP EXAMS
Both the SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test) and the COOP (Catholic School Entrance Exam) are tests taken by students for admission to private high schools. The SSAT is utilized by many private, non-denominational schools and boarding schools; the COOP is used exclusively by Catholic schools.

WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS OF THE SSAT?
The SSAT is composed of 5 sections:
1. VERBAL - 30 synonyms and 30 analogies
2. MATH- 25 questions in arithmetic, algebra and geometry
3. READING - 40 questions on reading passages
4. MATH - 25 questions
5. ESSAY WHAT IS THE COOP EXAM?
The Coop exam contains Reading and Language Arts, Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning- Context, Verbal Reasoning -Words, Sequences, Visual Analogies, Mathematics, and Language Expression.
HOW ARE THE SSAT AND COOP DIFFERENT?
The 2 exams differ in the breadth of material that each tests, in the depth of material of each exam and in their scoring. The SSAT is offered in a Lower Level Test (Grades 6-7) and an Upper Level Test (Grades 8-9). The COOP has one version only and is usually taken in Grade 8.
