ACT (American College Testing Program)
The ACT is an alternative to the SAT for college admissions.
WHY USE NJL COLLEGE PREPARATION FOR ACT INSTRUCTION?
- The ACT preparation (private or small group) is taught personally by the 2 directors of NJL. They have written numerous nationally published review books on ACT preparation.
- ACT groups are limited to 4-6 students per group.
- You may form your own ACT group and it will be limited to the students you choose.
- 15 hours of instruction (5 three-hour lessons) for groups.
- Lessons available 7 days a week.

WHAT IS THE ACT?
The ACT consists of: English Mathematics Reading Science Essay (Optional) Total Time: 3 1/2 hours
HOW IS THE ACT SCORED?
Scores: 1-36 for each section based on the number of questions that are correctly answered
Essay: 2-12
Composite Score (Total): 1-36 based on a simple average of your 4 scores
WHY TAKE THE ACT?
- It tests more "school-based" knowledge, information that is more familiar to many students.
- There is NO penalty for guessing.
- Every question has 4 (not 5) choices so your odds of guessing correctly are improved.
