WHICH SAT II'S SHOULD I TAKE?
The tests in which you will do best! No, we're not kidding. Go with your strengths! If you enjoy and do well in social studies, consider taking the U.S. History SAT II or World History SAT II. If you are a science person, consider the SAT II in Biology E/M, Chemistry or Physics.
CAVEAT: That being said, you must also check with colleges that interest you and find our if any particular SAT II's are required. Naturally, you must take the required tests.
WHEN SHOULD I PLAN ON TAKING SAT II's?
This is an important question. The best time to take an SAT II that is based upon a particular course is immediately after you have completed the course. So after you take U.S. History, the best time to take the SAT II in that subject is June of that school year. Similarly, after you complete Chemistry (or AP Chemistry is you plan to take it before or during Grade 11), take the SAT II in June of that year.
However, some SAT II's don't fall neatly into that category. These include Mathematics Level I and Mathematics Level II, all language SAT II's and the Literature SAT II. The optimum time for these tests is when you have completed most of the course work in that subject.
